Bossier City police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that happened in the parking lot of a local church. Police and fire crews were called to the eastside parking lot of First Baptist Church in the 2800 block of East Texas Street at about 5:45 yesterday evening in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man and a woman dead from gunshot wounds. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit have determined that 45-year-old Allan Haltom shot his estranged wife, 44-year-old Angela Haltom, both of Haughton, as she arrived at her car after leaving the church daycare, where she was employed, then shot himself. No children were in the daycare or parking lot at the time -- and the daycare will be closed today.

The Bossier Sheriff's Office had arrested Mr. Haltom before. I talked with Lt. Bill Davis about the Haughton man's violent history.  You can hear that interview here:
