A central Louisiana man enters a guilty plea in Alexandria Federal Court to child pornography possession charges.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says 73-year-old George Jeffus of Pineville pled guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. According to the guilty plea, Pineville police searched Jeffus' home, where 136 images and five video files of child porn were found on electronic storage devices.

Jeffus faces up to 20 years in prison, five years to life of supervised release, forfeiture of items that were seized during the investigation and a $250,000 fine. He's also required to register as a sex offender. Sentencing is set for March 16, 2017.

According to a news release, the case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
