It's now legal for singers, magicians, musicians and other performance artists to set up on the downtown Shreveport streets.  An ordinance authored by District B City Councilman Jeff Everson and recently approved by the council made it possible.  And Everson says it's been a long time coming.  He says Shreveport is rich with talented performers, and they deserve a chance to be seen and heard.  They can now perform at selected locations from 10 a.m. til 10 p.m. daily.  But they'll need a permit to do it, and those cost $30.  Initially, locations will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.  Those who want to apply for a permit need to contact the Downtown Development Authority.
