A pedestrian has been struck by a car and killed in rural Bossier Parish.

Louisiana State Police say a car driven by 35-year-old Tammy Owens of Doyline was traveling eastbound on Hwy 527 when it struck 32-year-old Andrew Burks of Elm
Grove.  Troopers say he was standing in the roadway just west of Hwy 157.  Investigating troopers say Owens tried to swerve to avoid hitting him but was unable to.

Burks was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner's Office. Owens and her 9-year-old passenger, Kendal Owens, were both belted in and received no injuries.

Investigating Troopers say alcohol use on the part of Owens is not suspected but it is suspected on the part of Burks.  Toxicology samples have been collected and submitted to the State Crime Lab for analysis.  The incident remains under investigation.
