Remember the Humane Society of the U.S. contest in August that featured original artwork by six chimpanzees? Now, all six of those masterpieces are being auctioned off on eBay.

Jennifer Ball with the Humane Society says one piece of art in particular -- created by Chimp Haven's own Brent, the contest's "top banana" -- is going for quite a large amount so far.

"It's up to over $1,500 at this point," Ball says. "But there are five others that are a little less expensive right now." If you recall, Brent is the chimp artist that paints with his tongue. Ball says if you can't afford these high-priced pieces, prints will be available at each sanctuary in the near future.

Ball says the proceeds generated from this auction benefit the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance, of which Chimp Haven is a member. "It has eight member sanctuaries that all provide care for more than 500 chimpanzees in North America that have been retired from research and entertainment industries," Ball says. "Essentially, they advocate for high standards of care in sanctuaries in the U.S. and they advocate for chimpanzees who are being exploited in the U.S."
