The Bossier City Police Department partnered with Kansas City Southern Railroad for "Operation Lifesaver" -- in an effort to crack down on drivers who try to beat trains at railroad crossings. The operation was conducted over a three-hour period this morning at the crossings that run along Barksdale Boulevard south from I-20. Officers rode on a KCS train to observe motorist behavior at the crossings. When a violator of the grade crossing laws was spotted, that officer radioed another one stationed near the crossing. Officers issued a total of 42 citations for disregarding railroad crossings and eight for non-moving violations. KCS representatives also handed out railroad crossing safety information to violators during the operation.
