Police are on the hunt for a suspect who allegedly shot a local man in west Shreveport earlier this morning.

The Shreveport PD issued this news release:

At approximately 6:39 a.m., on October 9, 2015, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Mandelane Street, relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, patrolmen learned 36 year old Clayton Edwards was shot by an unknown suspect in the lower body. The Shreveport Fire Department transported Edwards to the University Health Hospital in the 1500 block of Kings Highway with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives and Crime Scene personnel were advised of the shooting and responded to the scene.  Preliminary information gathered during the investigation revealed Edwards was inside his house, when multiple gunshots came from outside the residence striking him once in the lower extremities. Edwards did not see the suspect that did the shooting.
