One man is dead and another is in custody after a late night shooting in Bossier City.

According to Bossier City Police, officers responded to the residence in the 200 block of Melissa Lane at approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a call about a man being shot. Upon arriving officers found a male subject with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk in front of the residence. Bossier City Fire Department personnel transported the victim to University Health in Shreveport where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as William Christopher Flowers, 40, of Shreveport.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit arrested Patrick Newton Harris, 39, of Bossier City for second degree murder. Harris was taken into custody at the scene without incident. Detectives say the shooting happened while Harris and the victim were engaged in a physical confrontation. Harris was booked into the Bossier City Jail.
