Bad news today on the jobs front. Dean Foods out of Dallas is closing the Oak Farms Dairy manufacturing operation in Shreveport. Employees got the word from management yesterday. This will mean the loss of more than 170 local jobs. The company does plan to continue to distribute products from the local plant, but nothing will be manufactured here any longer. Oak Farms Dairy is the old Foremost Dairy Plant on Interstate Drive. Dean Foods spokeswoman Liliana Esposito tells KEEL news:

"Production will be phased out over the next few months. That impacts more than 170 employees which will be eliminated, though we will maintain about 25 workers at the plant for distribution and sales operations."

The final day on the job for the workers is May 14th.
