Northwestern State University holds the first session of its freshman orientation program Freshman Connection May 31-June 1.Freshman Connection is designed to assist incoming freshman with the transition to university life.  While on campus, participants will meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, learn about campus resources and meet future classmates.

Incoming freshmen will be introduced to the academic programs and services provided by the University, such as academic advising and support services.  Upon completing the registration process at Freshman
Connection, those who attend will be prepared for their first semester in college.  The cost for Freshman Connection is $80 which includes accommodations and meals.

In conjunction with Freshman Connection, Northwestern State will also hold Parent Connection and Kid Konnection.

Parent Connection is aimed at helping parents become familiar with college life, so that they can successfully manage this time of change, growth, fun and exploration.  The program consists of special presentations designed to help family members assist with their student’s transition to Northwestern State by becoming familiar with the University.

There is a $25 registration fee for the first parent and $10 for each additional parent.  This fee covers the
cost of lunch in Iberville Dining Hall and program materials.  Kid Konnection will help younger siblings become familiar with college life.  Activities include a tour of the campus and visiting a residence hall, fun arts
and crafts, pictures with Northwestern State’s mascot Vic the Demon and other events designed for children. Participants will also receive lunch, an afternoon snack, t-shirt and more.

Kid Konnection is exclusively for siblings of new NSU students age 5 – 12.  There is a $30 fee for each participant.

A program for those entering the state’s designated honors college, Louisiana Scholars’ College Connection, will be on May 31 – June 1.

Two additional sessions of Freshman Connection are on June 21-22 and July 17.
