For the last few weeks, we've looked at data from The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, or (IHME) is an independent research center, which is a group of medical researchers who regularly create models focusing on health and medicine. They are based at the University of Washington, inside the first state in the US to be impacted by COVID-19.

The projections we've looked at originally said the peak of the COVID outbreak in Louisiana would come on April 10th. Then an update to their models suggested the peak date had been moved up, with the new peak coming on April 9th.

However, this morning's model and projection show a major change to Louisiana's peak date projection. The new information suggests that the peak date has already passed us.

Now as we've learned over the last month, the models and projections aren't strictly the law of the virus. We also know that every model and projection have different outcomes of dates and needs. The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation may say we're on the downside now, but we'll have to wait to see what the coming days and weeks show.
