A new hotel near downtown Shreveport opens in a little over a week.

The Residence Inn Shreveport-Bossier City/Downtown is scheduled to open Thursday, November 19. According to a news release, it will offer 131 spacious suites with stylish decor and high-tech amenities geared to today's demanding traveler. It also features a free breakfast buffet for comfortable extended stays.

The new hotel is located at 501 Traffic Street in Bossier, and will be led by General Manager Gary Theus, Assistant General Manager Tamika Miles and Director of Sales Jennifer Boone. Theus was most recently general manager of Hampton Inn Shreveport-Bossier City, where Miles served alongside him. Boone previously served as director of sales for Hilton's Homewood Suites brand.

Here's more of a description of what the new hotel has to offer:

Guests will enjoy sleek furniture in separate areas to live, work, dine and dream in comfort. From whipping up a snack in their fully equipped kitchen and working at large desks with ergonomic chairs to curling up on a comfortable sectional while staying connected with complimentary wireless Internet access, guests are invited to make themselves right at home. Pets are also welcome.

Located near the Red River that connects Shreveport and Bossier City, the hotel is conveniently positioned off of Interstate 20 and places visitors minutes from each city’s variety of local attractions and businesses. Within walking distance of the hotel are some of the region’s casinos and shopping destinations including Horseshoe Casino & Hotel and Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, which offers more than 60 outlet stores, restaurants and entertainment venues. The new Residence Inn offers complimentary shuttle service to and from Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) and Shreveport Downtown Airport (DTN).

The hotel will pride itself on serving a hot, fresh and free breakfast buffet daily in the state-of-the-art lobby with plenty of seating for impromptu gatherings. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, guests are invited to The Residence Inn Mix, a social event featuring local cuisine and free snacks, as well as craft beer and wine. The hotel is located minutes from the city’s popular dining destinations for lunch and dinner.

During downtime, visitors can lounge by the outdoor pool, gather with friends around the fire pit or take advantage of a self-made meal at the extended-stay hotel’s barbecue grills.
