I never consulted a list of most-popular names before I picked out my daughter's...but shortly after she was born, I found out Emma was the number one girls' name for that year. Since then, the name has dropped a little further down the list, being replaced by Emily the following year.  The top girls' name for 2011 is....Sophia?? Sounds strange, I know, but that's the latest, according to the list just released this morning.  I pulled some of the info from an msn.com article I read earlier.  Here are the top 10 for boys and girls...Is your child's name on the list?

BOYS

1. Jacob
2. Mason
3. William
4. Jayden
5. Noah
6. Michael
7. Ethan

GIRLS

1. Sophia
2. Isabella

This is the thirteenth year in a row that Jacob has topped the boy's list. Sophia swapped places with Isabella this year to take the No. 1 spot.

The real fun in the baby names list, though, is in the trending list -- those names that are moving fastest up the popular list. Could Aria and Archer be the next Aiden or Ava? How about Nylah and Nico for a trendy sibling set? Here is the social security administration's list of top trenders:
