Metropolitan Planning Commission member Ronnie Remedies talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the commission's move at Monday's meeting to terminate the contract renewal of controversial MPC Director Mark Sweeney.

The MPC board voted 5-4 to terminate the employment contract for MPC Executive Director Mark Sweeney. The board then voted to 6-3 to renegotiate Sweeney's "at-will employee agreement. The MPC board voted 5-4 to terminate the employment contract for MPC Executive Director Mark Sweeney. The board then voted to 6-3 to renegotiate Sweeney's "at-will employee agreement."

Remedies also clarified the current status of Sweeney's employment, telling KEEL listeners that "Mr. Sweeney's employment was "at-will." He wasn't He wasn't protected by a contract like you see many times in the private sector. We voted to allow the current contract to expire October 1 and I believe that we'll be coming forth with any changes that we or Mr. Sweeney would like to see."
