The Red River Waterway Commission has re-opened several other public boat launches.  These include the ramps at Colfax recreation area in Grant Parish, Teague Parkway in Bossier City, Bishop Point (Shreveport) and one ramp at the south end of the Stoner Avenue recreation area.

The Commission had closed all boat ramps because of high water levels on the Red River earlier this month.   Boaters are being urged to use caution when launching into the current and be highly aware of obstacles such as trees and sandbars while navigating the river.

As water levels continue to fall, additional cleaning and repairs will be necessary to accommodate the launching process.   Boaters may experience delays in launching caused by temporary closures of the ramps during these periods.   Cooperation from boaters is appreciated during the clean-up efforts.

Public boat ramps in North Caddo/Bossier at the Hwy 2 bridge between Plain Dealing and Hosston will be re-opened as soon as it is cleaned and safe for public use.   The ramps in Avoyelles Parish will remain closed until the Atchafalaya River south of Lock and Dam #1 recedes allowing the high water to come off the docks for necessary cleaning and repairs.   A small rise in the Red River is expected over the next few days and temporary closures may be necessary once again.  For the latest information, call the Red River Waterway Commission at 800-874-9431 or 318-352-7446 or visit the website at www.redriverwaterway.com.
