A Dallas, Texas, realty company is excited about the purchase of downtown Shreveport's Ogilvie Hardware building. Matt Harris with Provident Realty Advisors says the company is going to "rehab" it and turn it into apartment property. He says this will be a gated community with 90 apartments and lots of amenities -- including a fitness center, swimming pool and playground. He says when it's done, the outside will look very much like it does now, since it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's expected to be the first rehab of a midrise historic structure to be LEED-certified, incorporating green technology to lower energy costs. Construction is expected to begin by this summer and should be ready for opening early next year.
