Modern-Day Horse Thieves

The days of the "Old West" may be long gone but horse thieves, it seems, are not.Somebody stole a 4-year-old blue roan quarter horse stallion from a pasture on Greenbriar Loop, off Highway 509 east of Mansfield, back on April 29th. Now, the Louisiana Livestock Brand Commission is offering a cash Crimestoppers reward for information leading to an arrest in the case and the recovery of the stolen horse. The Brand Commission's Crimestoppers hotline is 800-558-9741. State Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain says the Livestock Brand Commission is empowered to investigate all agricultural crime including livestock theft. It also investigates thefts of farm machinery and equipment. Strain says all Commission inspectors are commissioned by the Louisiana State Police and have full police powers.
