Mayor Cedric Glover and the Baptist Ministers Fellowship Conference of Shreveport will host a citywide service Monday, January 20th, to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The special service begins at 6:30 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church at 1500 Pierre Avenue.  Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr., Senior Pastor at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., will be the featured speaker.

The observance also includes special recognitions of the 2014 Spirit of Dr. King Award recipients by Mayor Glover and the City of Shreveport.  This year's honorees will be recognized for their commitments to civil rights, education, community, youth and jurisprudence.

The event is free and open to the public.
