Minden Man Killed in Head-on Crash

ne man has died in a head-on crash on Highway 80.

State Police Troop G responded to the wreck just east of LA Highway 531. A Minden Man died in the accident.

Troopers issued this report:
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Ford Expedition operated by 33-year-old Andrea Aquino of Minden was traveling west on US 80, when for reasons still under investigation, she crossed the center line, and collided head on with an east bound 2004 Ford Mustang operated by 25-year-old Elias Andreden of Minden.

Andreden sustained fatal injuries during the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner. Aquino sustained serious injuries from the crash and was transported to University Health Shreveport for treatment.

Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis.

In 2016, 52% of the fatal crashes in the Troop G area involved impaired drivers.
