The owners of a local tree farm have seen brisk business since Thanksgiving weekend. Brenda Perryman with Old Beck House Christmas Tree Farm in Minden tells KEEL News she knew Saturday would be busy -- since there were lots of activities going on, and a visit from Santa. But she was really surprised at Friday's crowd. "People were calling even before Thanksgiving. Seems like they're ready early this year," Perryman says.

Perryman owns the farm with her husband, and her daughter sells hand-made items in their gift shop. So trees aren't the only things sold there. They make wreaths, stockings and pillows, and are even dabbling in painted gourds and other items.

As for tree varieties, you can find Leyland Cypress and Virginia Pine growing in the field, and Douglas and Frasier Firs are brought in from Tennessee. Perryman says there are some trees that are 15 feet tall!

Old Beck is open every day from 11 a.m. until dark (because, let's face it...it's hard to pick out a tree in the dark!) If you want to make special arrangements, you can. Just call 377-0310 to do that.
