Congressman and Constitutional lawyer Mike Johnson talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the new prayer policy for teachers recently instituted by Bossier Parish schools.

Johnson, who, at one time, represented the parish's school board, says, "in this case, the plaintiffs (the Freedom From Religion Foundation) presented hard evidence to the court of clear violations of very well established law and...(the parish) had no choice but to admit to well documented fact and no choice but to update their written policy."

The Congressman, in explaining the new rules, says that "common sense has to be applied. But the written policy prohibits teacher participation in prayer because the Supreme Court and 5th Circuit say it must do that. But it also says that teachers and faculty can show respect and deference."
