A dangerous fugitive wanted by Michigan authorities has been located and captured at a Bossier City motel.

The U.S. Marshal's Violent Offender Task Force and Bossier City police arrested 26-year-old Dawon Haymer of Muskegon Heights at the Bossier Inn and Suites in the 700 block of Diamond Jacks Boulevard. Haymer was wanted for attempted murder and weapons charges in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Battle Creek, Michigan.

When authorities found him, he initially wouldn't come out of his room. A Bossier City Police K-9 was called in to help take Haymer into custody. He was treated at LSU Health Shreveport for a dog bite wound, then taken to the Bossier City Jail. He's since been transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility, where he's awaiting extradition back to Michigan.
