Those who have lost their lives in the service of our country are being remembered today at a number of Memorial Day activities. Veteran Carroll Michaud says the reason there are so many activities is that May 30th and the last Monday in May are one-in-the-same this year. Michaud will be the emcee for a big Memorial Day observance at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville. It begins at exactly noon and those attending are asked to be there by about 11:45. Earlier today, at ten o'clock, a big Memorial Day observance will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Haughton. Later this afternoon, at two, the Fleet Reserve Association will place a wreath on the water of Cross Lake. That takes place at the Lowe-McFarlane American Legion Post on South Lakeshore Drive.
