David Letterman last Thursday night spent some time talking with Lance Cpl. William "Kyle" Carpenter, USMC, the most-recent recipient of the Medal of Honor. The often jaded Letterman was awestruck by Carpenter's courage. We all are.

Cpl. Carpenter is a true-life hero who used his body to shield a fellow Marine from a grenade blast. His injures included countless shattered bones throughout his body, a punctured carotid artery, two ruptured eardrums and the loss of most of his jaw.

The interview is quite moving.
