Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the resignation / medical leave of SPD Chief Alan Crump and the new "substitute chief", Ben Raymond.

When asked by KEEL's McCarty whether she "stood behind" the chief too long, the mayor responded, "I think I did. I'm honest about that. And I take ownership on that. I tried to give him a chance."

Meanwhile, the mayor has selected nineteen year SPD vet Ben Raymond to replace Crump, who originally resigned, but most recently announced that he is taking an extended medical leave. Raymond has previously served in narcotics, special response, patrol and at the academy.
