Are the statements from Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler regarding the city's plan to accept manpower assistance from law enforcement bodies outside the SPD inconsistent? That's the topic brought up Wednesday morning by 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Erin McCarty with co-host Robert J Wright.

McCarty's concerns stem from the mayor's remarks Tuesday before the Shreveport City Council. When asked by council member Willie Bradford for an update on the city's plan to temporarily join forces with the Caddo Sheriff's Department, the mayor responded by referring to her administration's two-year-old crime fighting plan and citing Shreveport's improved crime statistics, making no mention of the proposal in question.

McCarty then played one-month-old audio of Tyler's statement to the city council, citing meetings with Caddo Sheriff's representatives and in which the mayor mentioned "working with the sheriff's department on a plan.
