After 64 straight wins and back to back championships, the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks basketball team is leaving.

Earlier this month management announced that the team was changing leagues, moving from the American Basketball Association to the Premier Basketball League.

Over the past two years, Mavericks owner Jerry Nelson has spent more than $200,000 improving the 61-year-old Hirsch Coliseum, including a new, off site practice facility.

The official team statement:

"We would like to thank the Shreveport-Bossier community and surrounding areas for the support over the last two years. We have won 2 championships in this community and are very proud of our accomplishments. The Mavericks will be relocating from the Shreveport-Bossier area to a new city for the 2015-2016 season."

It has not been announced where the Mavericks will be playing this upcoming season.
