Mardi Gras Spotlight: Krewe Of Akewa [PICS]

The Minden, LA based women's group, the Krewe of Akewa, celebrated 10 years of Mardi Gras Friday, February 14th at the Clarion Hotel in Shreveport with style and grace.

Their bal was easily one of the most entertaining so far of the season. While the krewe is an all female krewe, the tableau opened with the honorary crowning of Shelby Duay as the 'Krewe of Akewa King X!' It was a big surprise for Shelby, who is well known (and loved) in the Mardi Gras community!

King Shelby recognized the past queens of Akewa with roses. From there, the crown jewels of Akewa were presented and they looked fabulous! Congrats ladies! The tableau wrapped with another surprise, a skit honoring Queen Julie followed by music by Jay Cougar, karaoke and more!
