Mansfield Man Convicted on Drug and Gun Charges

A Desoto Parish man with an extensive criminal history has been convicted of six crimes involving illegal drugs and a firearm. Jurors deliberated several hours before convicting Alonzo Allen of possessing -- with intent to distribute -- crack cocaine, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Diazepam. He was also convicted of possessing a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The DA's office says it intends to file a multiple offender bill against Allen. If he's determined to be a multiple offender, he could draw a life sentence.
