[UPDATE, May 26, 2016] Danny Ray Shoemaker of Tyler, Texas, has been caught.

He was arrested by the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office on warrants from Texas and Louisiana. In Texas, he's charged with theft of services, insufficient funds check, and theft by check. Bossier sheriff's detectives have charged him with felony theft and felony criminal property damage.

Shoemaker will be extradited to Bossier once the Texas charges are cleared.


[ORIGINAL STORY, May 23, 2016]  Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington is asking for the public's help locating a man wanted for theft.

Detectives say 45-year-old Danny Ray Shoemaker is wanted for stealing several thousand dollars from a man who hired him to remodel his home after the flooding in March.

Shoemaker uses Craigslist to find customers for his alleged business 'Cowboy Remodeling' out of Texas. He's been preying on residents affected by the recent flooding. He's believed to be driving a white, 1995 Chevy truck with Texas license plate GKX2497.

Shoemaker is a white male, about 5'10" tall and 200 pounds, with blue eyes and blonde or strawberry blonde hair. He has tattoos on his upper left and right arms, and scarring on his face, elbow, nose, right knee and left elbow. He's wanted in Texas and Louisiana.

Anyone with information on where Shoemaker might be, or who has seen his truck around town, is asked to call Bossier Crime Stoppers at 318-424-4100.
