[UPDATE] Texarkana Police Officer Dies of Injuries Suffered in Hit and Run; Man Charged With Running Into Him

[UPDATE]  A Texarkana, Texas, police officer has died of injuries he suffered in a hit and run accident. Officer William Sprague, who’d been with the department since January of last year, died while being treated at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born in Idabel, Oklahoma, in 1982. Before heading to Texarkana, he worked forthe Grant County, Arkansas, Sheriff’s Department for one-and-a-half years and for the Pine Bluff Police Department for almost four years. He’s survived by his wife, Stephanie, and their 4-year-old son, Caden, as well as his mother, step-father, in-laws, two brothers and two sisters.

This is the fourth line-of-duty death for the TTPD. The Department asks for prayers for the Sprague family during their time of loss.

[ORIGINAL STORY]  An arrest has been made in connection with a vehicular assault on a Texarkana, Texas, police officer.  

21-year-old Justin Sanders of Texarkana is charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.  He’s been booked into the Bi-State Justice Center with his bond set at a million-and-a-half dollars.  The charge stems from his allegedy driving into Officer William Sprague while attempting to leave a disturbance at Grady T. Wallace Park early this morning.  Officer Sprague is in critical condition in a Texarkana hospital.
