Man Arrested in Maime Hicks Park Shooting

Police have arrested a Shreveport man for a shooting last night at Maime Hicks Park in the 200 block of Mayfair Drive.

Detectives say 34-year-old Alicia Woods was with another female sitting in a vehicle at the park, when a man later identified as 57-year-old Kenneth Harper pulled up in a dark-colored, four-door sedan and blocked their vehicle from leaving.

Harper got out, pulled a shotgun from his car and fired several rounds at Woods, hitting her twice in the upper body. Woods was taken to University Health with life-threatening wounds.

Hours later, Harper was found at a home in the 1800 block of Abbie Street. He was taken into custody without incident, then booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of attempted second degree murder.
