Major Milestone for IRS e-file Program

IRS e-file has passed a major milestone...over one-billion served. The Internal Revenue Service's e-file Program has passed the one-billion mark for individual tax returns processed safely and securely since 1986. Prior to the April 18th deadline, IRS e-file passed another high point, as well, since more than 100-million individual tax returns were e-filed during the 2011 filing season. As far as Louisiana goes, more than 1.4-million electronic returns were filed -- up 6% compared to the same period last year. E-filed returns prepared by tax professionals are up 5% -- and e-filed, self-prepared returns are up 8.2%.
