Despite the loss of their star cornerback, Tyrann Mathieu,  the Tigers displayed to any doubters that they are perfectly fine without him.

To be specific, his replacement Odell Beckham Jr., showed the North Texas Mean Green early in the game that there are other cornerbacks who are just as good as the “Honey Badger” was.

Not to mention, the LSU Tigers showed the world with their total of 508 yards in this game, they are not drifting off in the wind anytime soon, following last season’s loss in the National Championship game.

1st Quarter:

Mathieu’s replacement Beckham Jr., came out of the gate hot, returning a 116 yard punt for a 70-yard touchdown with 6:26 in the 1st quarter!

Beckham’s run came  after an insane 38-yard TD jolt by Tigers running back Kenny Hilliard, starting the LSU scoring for the night with 12:30 in the 1st quarter.

End of quarter: 14-0 LSU.

2nd Quarter:

Kenny Hilliard is at it again, this time rushing through some of the Mean Green’s holes in the defense for a 5-yard touchdown.

Tigers kicker Drew Alleman kicks a ball right through the goal posts.

North Texas’ Brelan Chancellor isn’t very fond of their team being shutout thus far in the ballgame, so he grabs a pass from QB Derek Thompson for an 80-yard touchdown.

End of 2nd quarter: 24-7 LSU.

3rd Quarter:

Tigers kicker Drew Alleman adds to the Tigers lead, kicking a 30-yard field goal in between the posts.

End of 3rd quarter: 27-7 LSU.

4th Quarter:

LSU wide receiver Kadron Boone takes a 34-yard pass from Zach Mettenberger and runs the ball into the end zone.

North Texas’ Brelan Chancellor does it again! This time bringing home a 15-yard pass for a TD from QB Derek Thompson.

The LSU Tigers’ fullback J.C. Copeland puts North Texas to bed with short and sweet 5-yard TD run .

Final score: 41-14 LSU.
