Great players continue to want to play for the LSU Tigers. Many in Tiger Nation had expressed concerns that maybe head coach Ed Orgeron wouldn't have the "star power" to draw the nation's elite high school football players to Baton Rouge.

It appears that Coach "O" and his staff still have one of the most highly thought of programs in the nation. Yesterday's national signing day results bear that out as the Tiger's class of 2017 recruits was graded 7th best in the country by a consensus of college football pundits.

The sports website Bleacher Report gave the Tigers a grade of "A" on the 2017 recruits. The Bleacher Report observation on the Tigers summed it up this way.

New Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron has always been lauded for his abilities as a recruiter. His first cycle since taking over for Les Miles was a smashing success. The Tigers landed two stud quarterbacks, restocked both lines of scrimmage with talent and depth and landed four elite defensive backs.

If there was a not so bright spot in the LSU national signing day report card. That was the fact that three of the state's top five rated prospects chose to take their talents to SEC rival Alabama. Coach Orgeron addressed that issue in a story published by the Louisiana Radio Network.

We have work to do, I said we're going to get the best players in the state to come here. We missed out on some guys and obviously, we have work to do and that' s in our primary area. Those are some of the things we need to get fixed.

A fourth Louisiana prospect is currently enrolled in classes at Alabama.

LSU fans will get a sneak peak of the 2017 Tigers at the National L Club Spring Game on April 22nd at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers will officially open the 2017 campaign Saturday, September 2 in Houston as they take on non-conference foe Brigham Young University at NRG Stadium.
