LSU Will Give Refunds for McNeese State Game

LSU and McNeese State officials Athletic say refunds will be offered on tickets purchased for last Saturday night's canceled football game at Tiger Stadium. LSU athletics director Joe Alleva says LSU will offer refunds to season ticket holders or those who purchase tickets through the LSU Athletic Ticket Office, LSUtix.net or the LSU Ticket Marketplace site.

Tiger stadium was packed for the opening game of the season, but the fans didn't get to see much football.

The LSU season opening game against McNeese was cancelled due to severe weather.

The Tigers and Cowboys went to the locker rooms just before 7:00 and word came down at 10:35 that game would be cancelled. 

Play was halted at 10:08 in the first quarter with neither team having scored.

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva said concern for player safety and his concern for the fans travelling were the main two factors in making the decision to cancel the game.

There was one bright spot during the pregame festivities. Mike the Tiger decided he wanted to go to the game and he climbed into his rolling cage and was part of the pregame program. Mike hasn't attended a game in more than a year.
