The NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament is finally here. We’ve known for months that LSU wasn’t going to be sending their team to the “big dance”, but there was a chance that Louisiana could still send a team to the show.
Louisiana Tech was possibly the next in line, but after some rough patches late in the year, it became obvious they would need to lead Conference USA Tournament. Which is where the Bulldogs ran into an incredibly hot shooting Marshall team. So the Bulldogs are out.
All of the other team across the state had their own struggles this year, but there was one team who still had a shot. But because they’re from the Southland Conference, they NEEDED to win their conference tournament…which they did.
The University of New Orleans Privateers needed overtime, but they beat Texas A&M Corpus Christi to earn an automatic bid to the tournament.
Here’s more on what’s next for UNO from the Louisiana Radio Network:
“The UNO men’s basketball team left today for Dayton, Ohio that’s where the Privateers will play Mount St. Mary’s on Tuesday in the first game of the NCAA Tournament. If the University of New Orleans wins that game, they’ll play defending national champion and top seeded Villanova on Thursday night in Buffalo, New York.”
