Memorial Day weekend is a dangerous one for drivers. Louisiana State Police revealed that six deadly crashes in Louisiana during this year's holiday weekend killed eight people.

According to Louisiana State Police, Troops in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houma, Alexandria, Lafayette and Mandeville saw accidents over the weekend. Shreveport, along with Lake Charles and Monroe, saw no fatal car crashes.

This marks a 50 percent increase in fatal Memorial Day weekend crashes, state police noted. In 2012, four crashes killed four people in Louisiana during the weekend holiday.
