MONROE, La. (AP) — Snow days taken earlier this year will cost Monroe area students a few more minutes in class each day in some districts or an additional day of school in others.

Students in Union Parish and Monroe City Schools will attend school for one additional day at the end of the school year.

Monroe City Schools also will add an additional 18 minutes to each day through the end of the year. Monroe had two days built into the schedule but ended up needing five days off because of inclement weather.

Ouachita Parish schools included at least 4.5 bad weather days in its initial calendar, but many schools had more time built into their schedules.

Some schools will have to make up the equivalent of one-half a day.
