A new study shows that Louisiana residents pay some of the lowest property taxes in the country.The nonpartisan "Tax Foundation" has issued new nationwide rankings of property tax burdens by county and parish. As with previous rankings, several counties in New York and New Jersey were among those with the highest property tax burdens while several Louisiana parishes and Alaska boroughs ranked lowest. Out of 2922 counties and parishes surveyed, Caddo weighs in at 2587 for property taxes paid by homeowners, 2735 for property taxes as a percentage of home value, and 2722 for property taxes as a percentage of income. Bossier parish checks in at 2680 for taxes paid, 2816 for taxes as a percentage of home value, and 2822 for taxes as a percentage of income. The figures cover the years 2005 thru 2009.
