Membership in the  IATSE union is surging in Louisiana. From 2003-20014, the union has grown at a staggering rate of 900 percent within the state. Never heard of the union?, the organization represents the technical craft end of the film, television, and live theater field.

Productions such as Terminator: Genesis, and Fantastic Four are currently being produced in Louisiana, with the able help of the IATSE.  Founded in 1883, The International  Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts, represents over 119,000 workers in the entertainment industry.

California, for nearly a century the major player in film production locales, now ranks 4th behind Louisiana, and The United Kingdom.

According to Deadline.com with so many film and television production companies receiving tax incentives in states like Georgia, Louisiana, & New Mexico, California is now at a competitive disadvantage.

California's loss is Louisiana's gain, as opportunities for experienced technicians, artisans and craftspersons in the entertainment industry will continue to grow in our state.
