Law enforcement agencies from throughout Caddo and Bossier Parishes, along with the public, gathered in the lobby of Riverview Theater to pay tribute to our fallen law enforcement officers.

The event pays tribute each year to 38 officers, deputies and troopers killed in the line of duty since 1894. The last law enforcement death for us was Shreveport Police Sgt. Tim Prunty in 2010.

There were two deaths in 2014 in the western district of Louisiana, though. St. Landry Parish Deputy Sheriff Carlos Papillon died January 28, and Vermillion Parish Deputy Sheriff Allen Bares, Jr., died June 23.

A candlelight vigil will be held this evening at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
