According to a story by local attorney John Settle, local businessman Will Broyles has filed a defamation lawsuit against City Councilwoman Stephanie Lynch.

The action is against Lynch personally, not in her capacity as an elected official. In his article, Settle said Broyles doesn't want public funds to be used to defend Lynch in court.

Broyles and his brother, owners of Ring Media Group, sponsored and produced the documentary series 'Shape of Shreveport.' Settle said Will Broyles also brought to the city a semi-professional soccer team The Rafters.

Lynch has accused Broyles of being the Caddo Parish School Board whistleblower known as "Bill Unsharpened." She's also accused him of receiving "hush money" in connection with the Shreveport Rafters soccer club, and said Broyles is "a shrapnel to the black community in Shreveport and Caddo Parish."

Broyles is saying Lynch posted defamatory messages about him on Facebook, allegedly in retaliation for his identification that Commissioners in the Parish Retirement Plan funds were paid Lynch while she was a Caddo Commissioner. He claims the posts were made "with the malicious attempt to harm his reputation and credibility."
