Paula Hallman, a well respected and beloved local artist, passed away Monday in her sleep due to blood clots in her legs travelling to her heart. The local art community is stunned by the unexpected death of the 59-year-old artist, and is pouring messages of love and condolences onto her personal Facebook page.

Hall man was best known for her doll art, painting and sculpting whimsical dolls in dreamy vignettes.

In a Shreveport Times article about the artist, her son Tristan Hallman says that it's hard, but there is still comfort there.

She left behind a devastated family — and a whimsical dream world in her paintings. We know she lives there now, and that she's waiting to greet us all there on the other side.

Hallman died in Dallas, Texas, where she was preparing to exhibit her art in the Deep Ellum Arts Festival.

Hallman's family and friends will host a wake at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Agora Borealis Art Gallery, 421 Lake St. in Shreveport.
