Detroit Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh has been hit with a one game suspension by the NFL for stepping on the ankle of Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Sunday's season finale.

According to the league, Suh 'unnecessarily stepped on the opponent's unprotected leg as he lay on the ground unable to protect himself.'

Suh said he will appeal the suspension. If it is upheld, he will miss this weekend's opening round playoff game against the Cowboys in Dallas.
