Lexi Gordon Loses Her Fight With Tay-Sachs Disease, Touches the Hearts of Shreveport/Bossier City
It was just last fall that we let you know about numerous fundraisers for Lexi Gordon, a little girl battling Tay-Sachs disease. This afternoon we learned that Lexi has lost that battle Sunday, March 2nd.
If you are connected via social media and live the Shreveport/Bossier City area, then surely you've heard of Lexi. Her 'Prayers for Lexi' Facebook page was over 4,000 strong, and almost $15,000 has been raised to date for her family via GiveForward.com.
I didn't know Lexi personally, nor her family, but I followed her story. You just couldn't help but be touched by all of the lives she impacted. I can't help but think that Heaven has gained an angel.
Please keep Lexi and her family in your prayers. I simply cannot imagine losing a child or the pain they're enduring.
Services for Lexi will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Summer Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Dempsey and Mickey Hoss officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport. Interment will take place in Rose-Neath’s Cemetery in Bossier City, LA.
The Gordon Family wants to extend heartfelt gratitude to the pediatric staff at LSUHSC, Trinity Home Health and care givers Renel Martin, Janine Kreamer and Latasha Gilmer, Physical Therapists Holley Furrow, Karen Vandersypen and Adrienne Cordaro, Dr. Amanda Kampert, Regional Hospice, Julie Vail and all who helped and supported throughout Lexi’s illness. A very special thanks goes to Kim Brickman for her dedication to Lexi and to Kassi Robinson, founder of Pay it Forward Networking. The family requests that all memorial expressions be offered in the form of a card or a donation in Lexi’s name to Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation.
