An overnight stabbing at a local motel leaves one man dead and another in jail.

It happened just before 10 last night at the Siesta Motel in the 2500 block of East Texas Street.

Detectives say 54-year-old Frank Bratton and 34-year-old Ryan Hammett got into an argument that turned physical in the motel parking lot. Bratton reportedly went to his room, grabbed a knife and went to Hammett's room, stabbing him several times in the upper body.

Hammett was taken to LSU Health Shreveport, where he died from his wounds. Bratton is in the Bossier City Jail, charged with second-degree murder.
