It is about that time of the year when we all start to pull over to the side of the road to purchase tamales from a roadside stand. I love this time of the year and I love tamales. I was raised in the restaurant business. My mom would make all kinds of tamales, the cheese and jalapeño ones, pork, green Chile chicken, beef, and sometimes she’d make the dessert tamales. I regret not keeping the tradition of making tamales alive in my little home. It is time-consuming, and I love supporting my fellow “tamalera”.

When I heard that Taco Bueno tried their hand at authentic tamales, I had to go check it out. I was a bit surprised by the size of the tamales. They are a bit small in size. I ordered the spicy pork tamale and the taste was like something out of a tamale factory in East Texas that I love. It was spicy and perfect. They even have a pumpkin tamale that is worth trying during pumpkin season. Pumpkin Spice Latte, pumpkin pie and pumpkin tamale you can never get too much pumpkin.
