Barkus & Meoux: Dogs, Cat, Miniature Horse and 'Taco Goat'

The weather wasn't perfect (it was rather cloudy and windy), but it was a decent day for Sunday's 2015 Barkus & Meoux parade.

The location was ideal -- the old Reeve's Marine building across from CenturyLink Center in Bossier City. There was plenty of room for the Pet Education Project's (PEP) games and activities for the kids, food booths and vendors, souvenir stands, a huge parade route around the building -- and space for my daughter to ride her scooter (which she would NOT go in without!) I even saw a doggie drink station, with plenty of bowls set out to quench the pups' thirst.

It was a sea of adorably-adorned doggies and I did see one cat, a goat dressed like a taco, a cute miniature pony, even a wagonload of roosters! Though I have been to Barkus & Meoux in the past, I don't think it's been quite like this before. I have never seen so many pet-owners in one place at the same time. It was amazing!

The star of the show was, of course, Grand Marshal Braveheart, the pit bull at the center of the Gabriel Lee animal cruelty trial. The pup looked incredibly dapper in his tux. It was very touching the way the crowd cheered as he walked by.

The theme for this year's parade was 'Bone Appetit,' so many of the pooches were dressed like chefs and food (crawfish was a common theme).
