Keithville Family Displaced After Fire Destroys Home, But Thankful Everyone Got Out Safely

It wasn’t a great start to the Thanksgiving holiday for one Keithville family when their house caught on fire. Caddo Fire District 6 Chief Damon Johnson told KEEL News the fire was reported at a single-family home in the 1200 block of Verone. It took several hours to bring things under control.
He said the house is a total loss. I told him it’s sad that something like this should happen right before Thanksgiving.
“The homeowner is just happy that his family was able to get out,” said Chief Johnson. Luckily, they won’t have a problem finding a place to stay. Johnson said the residents have a pretty large extended family and arrangements have already been made.
The fire is still under investigation, but right now it’s believed to have been caused by an electrical short in a kitchen appliance.
